Get Twisted Now!
For months now, ever since we came up with the concept of an Interactive Design Studio as part of our service offerings, we've been carefully planning our launch campaign. Needless to say ideas were all over the place on how could we promote our creativeness in a creative manner, no one had a landed idea, yet all agreed we needed something that would stand out, cause fuzz and trigger expectators brain in someway, we don't really care if it is in a positive or negative way at this stage as long as they get the message: "We are creative, period".
It had been a cheerfull game in the office to play with popular pictures and each team member personality in making something fun to smile at once in a while. We saw ourselves featured in some popular movie posters with customized messages, others reincarnated historical characters and I even played the president once. These collages became so refreshing we though they indeed reflect our creative vision and so the idea of launching a creative contest was born.
So appropriate that the very first art created by Hamlet was indeed a twisted one. I remember him focused and with a devil smile making a montage over a picture of a puppy... well, something like that. Then he comes over my desk and introduces me to "Rancho", for crying out loud, he even named it! It was this weird, disgusting looking animal kind of thing, a dog mixed with a frong's back and eyes, with a toungue from something else. Yet it looks so weird it really stuck into my head, we even though about creating our own for a company mascot (more about that later). Anyways, I really felt at that time he had perfectly stablished a theme for our contest and Get Twisted Now was a reality.
Since we brought the site online about a month ago we didn't even begin to advertise it other than showing around some of our own creations to friends and family and they all loved it. Some even decided to participate which we found exciting. So we took a step back before fully promoting it to properly build a secure vote tracking system, promotion material and voting options for contestants. And now that we are done, we are just about to heavily promote what we feel is a great way to introduce our Twisted brand into the market.
Not all reactions have been awesome though, which is interesting to analyze. I've had people tell me these "animals" look ugly, or scary, to which I have my own reserve opinions. Still I think they do nail the point in causing wonder and detail observation which is what we are after. This is why I stated before, I do not honstly care if impression is good or bad at this point as long as people see our work as a creative expression, at the end of the day, all though it is meant to serve our Studio brand, it may very well end up being online on its own, to serve as a fun way for creative minds to express themselves, showcase what they can come up with and gain appreciation for their work and posible prices.
You can visit the site and participate if you wish at http://www.gettwistednow.com, be sure to signup for the newsletter, believe me you want to see the things we're saving for last :).
